Fan Fiction - Haunted Mansion Storyline

The following entry is 100% fan made and does not in any way pertain to the actual Haunted Mansion attraction's background story or any other official information created by Disney in any manner.

There once was a wealthy explorer named Edward Gracey who had just met the love of his life, Constance. Gracey and his wife had plans to build a beautiful Mansion in the swampy bog land of Louisiana. In 1863, the Gracey's started working on their new residence. The land they decided to build on was an old plantation set in the heart of New Orleans. The Mansion was officially completed in 1869, and the Gracey family happily moved in together, along with the house servants Leota and William, and many family pets, but the most well known was the dog, Deta. The Mansion was complete with a foyer, ball room, and Master Gracey's favorite, a garden to the side of the house where the items he had collected as an explorer were arranged. A few years of happy life went by in the Mansion, until the maid of the house, Leota discovered something while cleaning the attic. She found many portraits of Constance with her ex-grooms, all of them without a head. She then found a chest loaded with actual beating heats, still beating and dripping blood. She opened Constance's closet and found axes, chains, whips and knives all hiding behind her clothes. She then saw a painting with Constance and what looked like Master Gracey. Headless. Leota couldn't believe it. She went and told Master Gracey immediately. He was shocked and couldn't believe that she killed all of her many ex-husbands. He decided that he needed to divorce her or run away. But it was too late. She said she would murder him if he filed for a divorce. Stressed by this situation, Master Gracey hanged himself in the cupola in a room by the foyer, and was left hanging dead. Constance discovered his body a few days after his death, and then murdered Leota for spoiling her dark secret, which initially forced Mr. Gracey to commit suicide. Constance then placed many evil curses on the Mansion after she was the only inhabitant left alive. She replaced the Gracey Couple's bed room to a Seance Circle where Leota now is a fortune teller that is forced to summon the spirits, who are the second and most famous curse of the Mansion. There are 999 ghosts of  people that Constance either knew in her life, or people such as her husbands or intruders to her Mansion, that she had killed. The current state of the Mansion serves a Haunted 'Retirement Home' for close acquaintances of Cosntance during her life, or people who were unfortunately murdered by her. The reason the Ghost Host says there is room for 1,000 'Happy' Haunts is because Constance is 'dying' to meet you so she can kill you to become a new haunt in her Mansion. This becomes fulfilled when you meet Constance in the attic of your tour. She kills you by throwing you out the attic window, which is represented by going backwards in your Doom Buggy in to the Graveyward. The third curse dramatically changed Master Gracey's personality to an evil, phantom-like ghost who would be forced to give tours to the alive and well who were visiting the Mansion. He would later become known as the 'Ghost Host'. The final curse that Constance put on the Mansion was the destruction of Edward's prized garden. Once a lush garden of rare artifacts, Constance changed it to a graveyard where the bodies of the spirits inhabiting the Mansion physically were buried. In the graveyard, the other house servant, William, can be seen, as he was now cursed by Constance to be the grave keeper. Besides him is the emaciated dog, Deta, who is said to be a possessed dog who is dead but still suffering alive. After you pass through the Graveyard, you see the famous "Hitchhiking Ghosts",  whom are rumored to hitch on the hearse that used to deliver dead bodies to the Mansion, back when it was still establishing its 999 permanent residents. Though many of the other little secrets in the Mansion still remain unclear, I hope this gave you a unique point of view to the attraction that we all love.
