Disney's BoardWalk Guide

Hello everyone!

If you think Downtown Disney doesn't already offer enough places to eat or things to do, then maybe Disney's BoardWalk is for you. Conveniently located a few minutes away from the International Gateway entrance to Epcot Theme Park, and about 15 minutes from Disney's Hollywood Studios, the BoardWalk is buzzing with activity daily, and offers many restaurants, shops, and more.

Dining
Finding a good place to eat at the BoardWalk is not a problem. There are 4 full, table service restaurants, as well as a quick service pizza window, a bakery, and a candy store. Lets take a look at some of the restaurants:

ESPN Club
If you're a sports fan, you're in for a treat. ESPN Club is full of sports memorabilia, and televisions playing live sporting events. But, it is also full of delicious, american food! If you're in the mood for a yummy burger, some buffalo wings, sandwiches, pizzas, and other traditional american meals, this is definitely the place to be! If you aren't the biggest sports fan, you may not enjoy the atmosphere as much, but the food is still great. No reservations needed.

Kouzzina by Cat Cora
Famous chef Cat Cora teamed up with Disney to create Kouzzina, a restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. Cora, who is of Greek heritage named the restaurant 'Kouzzina', as that means 'Kitchen' in greek. If you don't like greek food, you won't like Kouzzina. It's as simple as that. Such types of food served here are oak-grilled steaks, porks, calamari, greek salads, and more. So if eating a lamb sounds disgusting and wrong to you, you should stay away from Kouzzina. You can make reservations by calling (407) WDW-DINE

Flying Fish Cafe
A little more on the fancier, pricier side of restaurants at the BoardWalk, the Flying Fish Cafe is a great place to get seafood. Specializing in many types of fish, crabs, and other aquatic foods, if you don't like Seafood, there isn't much that you will be comfortable ordering, so we suggest trying a different restaurant. Also, please keep in mind that the Flying Fish Cafe does have a dress code, and the prices are very high. Reservations are available, just call (407) WDW-DINE

Big River Grille and Brewing Works
The only brewery at Walt Disney World, Big River is one of the best, yet underrated restaurants here at the BoardWalk, as it serves traditional american pub food, such as burgers, meatloaf, crusted chickens, and more. The main dining room of the restaurant is also filled with glass walls, making for a fun experience as you observe the brewing process. Not open to reservations.
Big River Grille

So, we really do recommend ESPN Club as the top restaurant at the BoardWalk, but if you really can't handle the sports, then Big River Grille is a solid alternate.

Shopping
After dinner, you may want to go shopping. Not a problem here at the BoardWalk, as most of the right half of the area is filled with shops. Lets take a quick look at some of these stores.

Disney's Character Carnival
If you're a Disney fan, you will love the Character Carnival, as it is stacked wall to wall with exclusively Disney merchandise.

Screen Door General Store
Filled with tons of Disney merchandise, and even some quick eating breakfast items and drinks, this is the best shop, without question here at the BoardWalk.

Entertainment
There certainly are some other fun things to do at the BW, not just including eating and shopping.

Street Performers
Every night, you are likely to find a Street Performer. Weather it's a clown juggling on a unicycle, or a guy throwing swords up in the air, or maybe just a magician, the street performers are always a fun act to watch.

Carnival Games and The Yard Arcade
Tucked away in the corner of the BoardWalk, take your hand at some traditional midway style BoardWalk games, such as shotting basketballs, throwing balls in cups, or knocking down milk bottles. There are plenty of fun games, and plenty of prizes! Also, after eating dinner at the ESPN Club, wander off the right side to The Yard Arcade, a typical arcade, filled with many fun arcade games for the whole family.

You are definitely going to have good time at Disney's BoardWalk, no matter what you do! We really recommend staying the hotel attached to the BoardWalk, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, as it has absolutely the easiest access to Epcot, and DHS. It also has many fun pools, and is right at the BoardWalk!

New game coming to Toy Story Midway Mania this late May featuring Toy Story 3 Characters

Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts
More big news to share today…a new game with new faces is being added to Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the celebration of the soon-to-be-released Disney*Pixar film, “Toy Story 3.” We’re also introducing a new character that you’ll have a chance to see and greet at both locations –- and it’s all happening in May.
The new Toy Story Mania! game, called “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” will involve shooting virtual darts at all new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons. You’ll be cheered on by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops, one of the toy characters from the new film) beginning in late May. Walt Disney Imagineering has also added some hidden surprises to the game that will be replacing “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop.”
Lotso
And starting May 9, you’ll get a chance to see “Lotso” (short for Lots-O’-Huggin Bear) at both parks. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, he’ll be greeting Guests in the meet-and-greet area inside The Magic of Disney Animationand be part of the “Block Party Bash.” The bear who loves to hug will also join “Disney’s Pixar Play Parade” at Disney’s California Adventure and guests will be able to pose alongside the “Toy Story” gang inside a life-sized “blister pack” as if they themselves are toys.

Captain EO returns to Disney World July 2nd

Captain EO Returning to Walt Disney World
Yes, you read right…the classic 3-D film experience “Captain EO” is coming back to Walt Disney World Resortthis summer just months after it reopened to rave reviews at Disneyland park. The 17-minute musical space-fantasy adventure film is now scheduled to begin at Epcot on July 2.
I remember enjoying “Captain EO” during its original run at Epcot from 1986 -1994. But for some of you, it’ll be a new experience. The film features Michael Jackson as “Captain EO” and a crew of Disney-created space characters. During their journey, the group uses the power of dance, light and music to turn a colorless planet into a world of color and happiness.
And there’s more. “Captain EO” will be returning to other Disney Parks locations. It’s scheduled to open at Tokyo Disneyland on June 30 and Disneyland Paris on June 12. We’ll have more details on the film’s return to Walt Disney World in upcoming weeks but we wanted Disney Parks Blog
